Tower of London, London
17 July - 11 November 2014
One of the more memorable events of 2014 in the UK. The planting of 888,246 ceramic poppies
in the moat of the Tower of London was completed to mark one hundred years since the outbreak of World War One. Volunteers began planting the poppies in July and the planting continued progressively until Armistice Day on the 11th November. Each poppy represented a British life lost during the Great War.
I was lucky enough to see this installation on 3 occasions: once in July, near the start of the planting, once in September and finally in November, 3 days before Armistice Day itself.
