A selection of photos from our honeymoon in 2010.
We got to the airport really early for our flight to Singapore only to be told we wouldn't be leaving until the next morning because the plane had suffered a cracked windscreen. Although initially disappointed, Singapore Airlines looked after us tremendously, and even put us up at the amazing Marina Bay Sands Hotel for the day in Singapore until it was time for our connecting flight to Penang.
After our delayed start, we eventually made it to the island of Penang, off the west coast of the Malaysian peninsula. Penang was founded by the British during the colonial days and retains much of its colonial heritage. We stayed at the gorgeous Rasa Sayang hotel, on Batu Ferringhi beach, in the north of the island.
Our second Malaysian destination was the island of Langkawi, to the north of Penang, and very close to Thailand. Langkawi was quieter than Penang, more scenic and full of nature. We took a boat tour around the mangrove rivers, and hired a car for the day to explore the north of the island.
Our final destination was Singapore. We arrived there on Saturday, just in time for the Grand Prix, which we had tickets for. The F1 in Singapore is a night race on a street circuit, so very exciting to watch! We also spent time in the Botanic Gardens, Sentosa Island, did the Singapore Flyer wheel and finished the holiday with a Singapore Sling (or two) at Raffles Hotel.
